In this section, we will provide you with two options to access your Windows Desktop through a Remote Desktop Application. However, I can only log into the Windows 10 Parallels using RDC my home PC.Azure Virtual Desktop enables access to applications and desktops hosted on Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) and Remote Desktop Session Host (RDSH).In order to access your Windows Desktop through a Mac computer, you need a remote desktop connection between the two devices. I can log into Windows 7 Parallels using RDC just fine from Macbook Pro and PC. My office iMac 5k uses Parallels, one virtual machine for Windows 7 and another one for Windows 10. The connection will only be used to refer to a particular connection and has no effect on the connection whatsoever.Enter the name of the host or the IP address to allow your Mac computer to recognize the PC.The next option allows users to configure a Gateway. Figure 1.3From the window, click on the New button from the top left corner of the Microsoft Remote Desktop Application.Next, you will be required to enter the following information as illustrated in Figure 1.4: Figure 1.4Enter the connection name. Once, the download is complete, click on the Launchpad icon and open the Microsoft Remote Desktop Application.Once you open the application, a window will appear as illustrated in Figure 1.3. In case you are not sure which settings are best for you, let the settings stay on default and change them later.In case you wish to set up or configure peripheral devices for your remote desktop, you can explore the settings for the same through the Session tab on the top bar. These options are personal preferences that will determine how the remote desktop will launch on your Mac computer. In that case, you can use another application named Parallels Desktop 16 for Mac. After this, your remote desktop will be added to the Microsoft Remote Desktop Application.In order to start a remote desktop session, all you need to do is double-click on the added remote desktop from your MSRD application and your session will begin.Note: If you need to duplicate, edit, delete or export a remote connection from your MS Remote Desktop Application, you can simply right-click on the desktop name in order to access any of these options.There may be a chance where you do not feel that Microsoft Remote Desktop is a suitable option for your use case. Next, you need to enter the path to the folder to make it available for use during the remote session.After finishing the configuration of the remote desktop, clock on the red button on the top left corner of the window. Figure 1.6In the Redirection tab, click on the + button to select a folder name for the folder. This has been illustrated in Figure 1.6. From the drop-down menu, you can choose to disable the sound or play it on the desktop connected remotely or play it on the Mac computer.Next, you have the option to connect to an admin session.After that, you get the option to Forward printing devices, which allow your local printing devices to be available during the remote desktop session.Lastly, you get an option to Swap mouse buttons in order to replace the functionality of the left and right mouse buttons.If you need to have a local folder to be available during your remote session, you need to go to the Redirection tab on the top bar. Figure 1.7After the app has been downloaded, click on the Launchpad icon on the dock and open the app. Click on the Get option and the app will begin downloading.Similar to Microsoft Remote Desktop, Parallels is a free application to use.This has been illustrated in Figure 1.7. This time, look for Parallels Client which will be the second result for the search. Open the App Store from the dock, type RDP in the search bar on the top left corner and press Enter. Alternatively, you can use the Import button to import an existing connection from your Mac computer.This has been illustrated in Figure 1.9. Click on the Add button to add a new connection in the Parallels application. Figure 1.8After opening the app, you will be prompted to configure a connection to a server. This has been illustrated in Figure 1.8. To access the server, all you need to do is double-click on the icon and the connection is established.Note: In case you need to make any edits, duplicate the connection, export the connection or delete the remote connection, you can right-click on the name of the remote connection and access all the options. Figure 1.11After the setup is complete, Parallels will be connected to the server that you require.Next, a new icon will appear on the screen with the title that you entered in the Friendly Name section. This has been illustrated in Figure 1.11. It is essentially an alias for your connection.After entering all the information click on the OK button.Next, a new window will appear on the screen where you need to enter the login credentials for the connection.Enter a username and password for the connection and click on the OK button.
